About Plymouth GTX

The Plymouth GTX was introduced in 1967 as a high-performance variant of the Plymouth Belvedere. It was built to compete with other muscle cars like the Pontiac GTO, Chevrolet Chevelle SS, and Ford Mustang GT.

What set the GTX apart from its competition was its powerful engine options. The base model came equipped with a 440 cubic inch V8 that produced 375 horsepower, while the top-of-the-line option was a legendary 426 Hemi V8 that could pump out over 425 horsepower. This made the GTX one of the fastest American cars of its time.

But it wasn't just about speed with the Plymouth GTX. The car also boasted stylish design elements like swooping body lines and a distinct grille. Inside, it had comfortable bucket seats and upscale amenities like power windows and air conditioning.

Over the years, different iterations of the Plymouth GTX were released with even more advanced technology under their hoods. However, by the early 1970s emissions regulations became stricter which led to lower-horsepower engines being fitted into vehicles such as this one.

Today, classic car enthusiasts still collect and restore these beauties as they continue to be highly sought after due to their power and refinement.
