About Jaguar C-Type
Passion for the Jaguar C-type is like a wildfire in the hearts of car enthusiasts worldwide. A true icon of its era, this dream contest winner is still regarded as one of the most beautiful racing cars ever made.
During the 1950s, Le Mans races were dominated by Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz. At that time, Jaguar Cars Limited was starting to build a name in motorsport competitions in England. However, their goal was to take on and win the prestigious endurance race that captivated racers’ imaginations around the world.
Enter the Jaguar C-Type - originally designed specifically for road racing, this masterpiece soon became known as “the car that changed everything”. The C-type incorporated features such as an aerodynamic body with curves and smooth lines that captured elegance and speed simultaneously. It was powered by a 3.4-liter eight-cylinder engine producing up to 220 horsepower that allowed it to reach speeds of over 120 mph.
The first C-Type raced at Le Mans in 1951 and won immediately against all odds, finally signalling Britain’s dominance over Europe's greatest endurance competition. In total, between 1951 and 1953, only fifty-three examples of this legendary machine were produced before being replaced by even more successful cars.
